Its Time for a Real Democrat

It has been stated by a few scholars and pundits, "Democrats believe in nothing" or maybe better stated "Democrats do not have a backbone".  Both statements do have some very real validity to them.  As a die hard "Clinton Dem," as I call myself, many of my friends jokingly call me a "Republican in the closet" but if you look back he was probably the 1st President of the Modern era who took a stand in the center of American Politics.  If you really look at our current state of affairs, I feel, we need more people like President Clinton in the White House.

How many times this year have we watched & listened to ads, Cable TV Shows and read in our great nations Newspapers each political party taking opposite sides in the very argument they were for a year or two before?  Too many.  Republicans push a "personal responsibility" health care law in the late 1990s, only to be dead set against it in 2008. Why?  Because the Democrats were now for it.  President Obama pushes the idea of cuts to Medicare, Social Security and other programs and the Tea Party fights it.  These are just two of the many cases that have unfolded over the past 4 years.

Start a third party?  Not a bad idea but as you can see with the Tea Party, which in the beginning was truly a grassroots group, these groups can easily be "taken over" by big money donors/power brokers.  The Koch brothers, and others like them, banded together with Dick Armey to "re-focus" the Tea Party into a strong arm of the Republican party.  America Elect, great start but as their members have found no direction equals no party.  America Elect couldn't get a single person of status to run for office with they're backing.  A third party needs a lightning rod personality or at least a person who can transcend the attacks of lobbyist and now Super PAC's.

Get money out of politics.  That would stop the "Flash Point" 15-sec spots on TV, make the candidates defend thier positions, understand that many can't with out help of their chief of staff, they will misspeak but give them time to rebut.
